The Concept
Gain a business-level view of Quantiv's technology
Quantiv customers share the need to be different and do not compromise their business by accepting imperfect solutions. They need systems that will empower rather than restrict innovation. They know they will need to keep changing to stay ahead, perhaps rapidly, and they want systems that will change with them.
Development of the Framework
Long before 'Service Oriented Architecture' or 'Model-Driven Architecture' became fashionable terms, Quantiv started developing a framework application which would deliver enterprise-scale, robust, custom systems by configuring existing software rather than coding new software. This concept became the Quantiv Business Framework.
Introducing the Quantiv Business Framework
The framework is based on the premise that there are a number of functions such as security, workflow and process management that need to be designed into the architecture of any enterprise system. For more than a decade Quantiv has been 'abstracting' these common elements into re-useable software services that can be configured and customised using the Business Framework.
The advantanges of Configuration
The benefits are clear. Configuration is inherently faster and safer than coding, because we are adapting proven software in a known way, with predictable results. The configuration tools themselves can store a complete 'map' of the system with all the interactions between services, so that the impact of any change is immediately apparent.

An Analogy
A good development team could build almost anything in Microsoft .Net. You could even build a database, but it is much easier and safer to use SQL because Microsoft has created a proven product that does the job.
A development team would normally have to design and build a range of functions in an enterprise system, from workflow to a scalable architecture. Quantiv has made these functions available as proven, re-usable, modules within its business framework, making it easier and safer to build complex enterprise solutions.
